1) We want your pet’s experience at The Dog Father to be as pleasant and as enjoyable as possible. It is important to understand that some pets respond to grooming differently, even with the best efforts. We will make every effort to make it a positive experience. Sometimes pre-existing conditions, unforeseen to us, arise such as skin allergies, shampoo allergies, moles, clipper sensitivity, matting, fleas, fear, behavioural issues, bone or joint sensitivity, heart condition, seizures, etc. Please inform us of any potential issues prior to grooming.

2) Services
We recommend grooming your beloved pet every 4 to 6 weeks, or more frequent visits if your dog is accustomed to an indoor lifestyle. Regular grooming will build a trusting relationship between your dog and the groomers, making the overall experience more pleasurable for your pet. Our Grooming packages are per the below –

3) What We Will Need From You
We will need your dogs, 1 towel per dog to hand dry before we blow dry. Garden tap so we can plug our hose in for water. Electrical plug point in the garage or close by so we can plug our extension in for dryers or grooming clippers.*Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that we have access to tap and electricity. If your area is being load-shed, kindly reschedule 24-48 hours in advance. Should you not re schedule and we arrive at your premises to groom and there’s load shedding, a cancellation fee/ rescheduling fee of R250 (two hundred and fifty rands) shall be payable.

4) Fleas And Ticks
If fleas and/or ticks are found on your pet during the grooming process, treatment to rid the pet of fleas and/or ticks is mandatory and an additional charge of R100 (one hundred rands) will apply. This is not only to rid your pet of the unwanted pests but to prevent them from transferring to other pets in the salon, as well as to avoid an infestation within the salon. Flea infestation can lead to tapeworm and other health problems. We suggest keeping your pet on a monthly flea & tick treatment like Nexgard, Sentinel or Advantage Multi.

5) Accidents
There is always the possibility an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is sharp, even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails, etc. In most cases, this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around. Every effort will be made to ensure your pet is groomed as safely as possible.

6) Aggressive Or Dangerous Pets
Owners MUST inform The Dog Father if your pet(s) may bite, have bitten, or shows signs of aggression towards people, other pets or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your pet and protects both the pet and the groomer. A “Handling Fee” of R50 (fifty rands) may be applied in addition to the regular grooming charge for aggressive or difficult to groom pets. The Dog Father reserves the right to refuse/stop services for such pet(s) at any time before or during the grooming process. This is for the pet’s safety, as well as for the groomer’s safety.

7) Health & Senior Pets
Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or pet with health problems and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. Because senior pets and pets with health problems have a greater chance of injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress. In the best interest of your pet, this contract/agreement will give The Dog Father permission suggest that you obtain immediate Veterinary treatment for your pet should it be deemed necessary at your own cost.

8) Required Vaccinations And Parasite Control
For the safety of all animals entering our facility we require all pets to be up to date on vaccinations including Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella. Further, we also require proof that parasite control such as an invoice showing purchase and use of Heartgard, Sentinel, Advantage Mutli, Revolution or similar.

9) Cancellations
Last minute cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) or continual rescheduling is subject to a R250 (two hundred and fifty rand) FEE PER PET which will be added to your next appointment.

10) Mat Removal
Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. A “Dematting Fee” of R150 (one hundred and fifty rand) will apply to all matted pets. Mats left in a pet’s coat only grow tighter and can strangle the pet's skin, or eventually tear it open. Mats can be very difficult to remove and may require the pet to be shaved. When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mould, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. Torn skin from mats can also harbor maggots. After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to re-grow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should either have sunscreen applied daily or should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. The Dog Father does not wish to cause serious or undue stress to your pet and will not continually de-mat your pet for you. Prevention is the best defence against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments.

11) Regular Grooming
We will ensure that your beloved pet is looked after and groomed on your preferred interval cycle. You should be grooming your pet every 4 weeks. We offer cycles from 1-12 weeks and longer. The advantages of joining our regular grooming program includes GREAT payment discounts up to 30%; you will not be affected by any price increases if you take payment/discount option; no waiting for weeks for appointments when we are fully booked; Your pet is always kept in Tip Top condition and looks great; we take the responsibility of your bookings and grooming into our hands; We will email you all of your dates and will always remind you via text or email the day before of your appointment; appointments can be moved/cancelled without being penalised. By ticking in one of the boxes below, you indicate which long-term plan you would like.

12) Termination Of Regular Grooming Agreement
Should you wish to terminate our services before the end of a long-term grooming contract period, then, a 30% cancellation fee shall be payable. The said fee shall be paid in full and final settlement for release from this agreement.

13) Automatic Renewals
A regular grooming contract shall automatically be renewed should not receive a written notice from yourself 3 (three) weeks before the last scheduled appointment date. It is recorded and specifically agreed that the agreement shall be renewed on the same terms and conditions and we will provide you with your new grooming dates. It is further recorded and specifically agreed that our fees escalate annually. Should the renewal fall within the escalation date period, namely January, our new fee(s) will be payable.

14) Additional Services
Anal sacs will be expressed only at client request at an additional charge of R50 (fifty rand). Please note that we are not a veterinarian and will only do exterior anal gland expression. You may still need to take your pet to a vet if problems are still occurring for internal expression. Teeth brushing may also be requested for an additional R50 (fifty rands) charge. This is not a deep teeth cleaning and is only used as prevention for tooth decay with additional brushing at home.

15) Payment
You can pay by cash on the day or by EFT. Groomers will leave an invoice with God Father banking details on. If you decide to pay by EFT, please do so within 24HRS and send us the POP.

16) Hold Harmless Agreement
By signing this contract you or your Agent agree to hold The Dog Father, it's owners, operators & employees harmless from any damage, loss, or claim arising from any condition of the undersigned pet, either known or unknown by yourself and/or the Dog Father.
